As soon as you enter a partner venue, Pick-A-Boo scans for nearby users using secure beacon technology. You'll instantly see potential matches around you, all in real time.
3. What makes Pick-A-Boo different from dating apps?
We focus on real-world encounters. Unlike traditional dating apps, Pick-A-Boo only shows people who are actually present in the same venue, ensuring matches are spontaneous, timely, and organic.
4. What is a “Beacon Scan”?
A beacon scan is how the app detects your presence and nearby users at a location. It's automatic and ensures everyone you see is right there with you.
5. What kind of people will I find?
Matches are curated based on your interests, age, and vibes—collected during onboarding. You'll only see people in the same pub, so there's always potential to turn a match into a real conversation.
6. What are “Like”, “Pass” and “Latch”?
Like: You're interested and want to connect.
Pass: Not your vibe, and they won't be shown again during that session.
Latch: You're really interested but don't want to take an action right now.
7. Do my matches stay after I leave the pub?
Nope. Pick-A-Boo is about the now. Once the session ends or you leave the venue, your session data is cleared. Every visit is a fresh start.
8. Can I message people?
Currently, Pick-A-Boo is focused on discovery and in-person vibes. Messaging features may be introduced in future versions depending on feedback.
9. Is my data safe?
Absolutely. We only track your presence during live sessions and don't store your location history. Privacy and consent are at the heart of Pick-A-Boo.
10. Can I choose to stay hidden while in a venue?
Yes. You have full control over your visibility. You can toggle your visibility off anytime during a session, and you won't appear to other users while browsing.
11. How do I report someone?
Your safety is our priority. Each profile has a Report Abuse option. If someone is making you uncomfortable or violating our community standards, report them—we'll take immediate action.
12. Does Pick-A-Boo show my exact location?
No. While the app confirms that you and your matches are in the same venue, it never reveals your exact spot until you both match. You then meet there. Your privacy and safety are always respected.
13. I'm a pub manager—how can I engage users?
We offer a simple web interface for pub managers to send live offers and announcements to users actively matching in your venue. It's a great way to boost engagement and run promotions.
14. Can I update my interests after onboarding?
Yes! You can update your interests and bio from your profile settings. Refreshing your interests helps Pick-A-Boo show more relevant and exciting matches every time you enter a venue.
